Foundry Condottiere Cavalry

I note from the Foundry releases that they have now release the Condottiere Rules and as surmised earlier in the month include mounted Light Cavalry.

Once again the figures are less than startling. I'm not sure if this is because of the fairly flat painting or just the figures. The cavalry are pretty generic and all a tad lifeless but will have uses and it is good the see more figures for the period and the area.

I'll probably pick up a few to see how they paint up and do a bit of mixing and matching but we'll see. One thing I'll not do is use the figures with helmets which are appallingly bad. A bucket over someone's head would be better.

  1. I was really let down with their new Italian Wars range. Foundry just isn't what it used to be at all, but fortunately they still make excellent paints.

  2. Some of them look quite good, others... well. The swords look a bit too big. I can't imagine a mounted handgunner carrying his weapon at the slope.

Is that someone doing an impersonation of John Wayne in 'True Grit' in the character pack?

There are some figures I actually like though, but when you are paying so much you don't want to have to bin any of them!

  3. Some may be fine, but not enough to warrant the expense. If it were the other way where most were very nice and only a few less then stellar then that would be different. Hopefully, Foundry will someday get back on track.

  4. I don't like the style of the figures, obviously done by the sculptor who re-did their Medieval range which replaced the old Perry sculpts, disaster. One or two of the figures are bound to be usable but I won't be rushing to pick them up. I do hope Foundry get back on track too.

  5. I am really dissappointed by them, the Gendarmes they have coming up look even worse which is a real shame. If they had been up to the standard of the old perry figures or the conquistadors the releases would have been fantastic.

I'm am undecided yet whether I will add any of the Italians to my collection, if I see some well painted and they look good I may consider but not at the moment
